Actor Roles
Actions
All roles, except for narrators, involve less than a one-page script per day. Scripts do not need to be memorized and can be concealed with a prop (e.g., a fan or book). Campers rotate through various stages set up around camp, and each stage features a 20-minute presentation, meaning you will perform for each group during the day. The following day, you will either portray the same character or a new one, as listed below. No acting experience is required—just enthusiasm!

RED COAT BRIGADE (traveling)
6 Red Coats participate in the Battles of Trenton, Ticonderoga, Lexington, and more. Careful handling and firing of a toy musket, which only produces smoke. Running/following orders.
Time Commitment
Two rehearsals and during camp, which is the third complete week of July each year. Camp runs Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Group Escorts
Actions
Group Escort leaders and assistants greet campers each day and take attendance. They help groups of 10 to 12 move around camp from one station to another. At the end of the day, they have parents sign their children out.

Crafts, Snacks, and Games
Actions
Crafts are done at the Mount Vernon station each day, where various stories related to the craft are shared—for example, Betsy Ross’s secret to a perfect 5-point star. (Craft lead and assistant positions.)
Snacks are served at the Colonial Inn each day, where campers learn about colonial life. In addition to enjoying a snack, they get to try activities like grinding corn, making butter, and washing laundry—just as colonists did. (Snack lead and assistant positions.)
Games are played at Valley Forge each day, where campers can try old-fashioned hoop-and-stick games, sack races, British dodgeball, and Minute Man relay races. (Game lead position.)
