Maintain the website by adding pictures and video to the website. Update sign up and volunteer forms with new year.

Publicity Coordinator

Publicity is responsible for contacting the media and other 501(c)(3) organizations to promote registration and advertisements for the camp.

Group Leader Coordinator

The Group Leader Coordinator is responsible for working with the Human Resources Director to schedule and assign volunteers as group leaders. The Group Leader Coordinator is responsible for working with group leaders to assure they are aware and knowledgeable of their responsibilities.

Station Leader Coordinator

The Station Leader Coordinator is responsible for working with the Human Resources Director to schedule and assign volunteers as Station Leaders. The Station Leader Coordinator is responsible for working with Station Leaders to assure they are aware of and knowledgeable in their responsibilities.

Station Leaders

Actions

There are six Station Leaders who are responsible for conducting the curriculum at the stations. 

Three of the stations are “teaching” stations where the leaders present the lessons while they help the campers to feel a part of history as they enter the past. Some are our founders and dress the part. They present in first person and the campers join them in the actions that happened many years ago.

We also have a “snack” station where the leader will have snacks typical of Colonial America. They describe how the snack is prepared and how the children enjoyed it years ago. They also introduce visitors to the station who share other elements of colonial life and historic events.

The “craft” station leaders guide the campers through their craft project that enhances the lessons of the day. D. The “games” station directs the campers to famous colonial games such as “Hoop and Stick,” “Minutemen Relay,” and “British Dodge Ball,” all while showing how each related to the life and times.

Station Leaders are also responsible for ensuring props are available each day and for decorating the station with appropriate posters, signs, etc.

Station Leader Assistants assist the station leaders and provide an extra set of hands.

Teen Patriots Coordinator

Actions

Teen Patriots Coordinator is responsible for helping prepare the teen patriots in their role of re-enactors. They will assist in rehearsals and assignments of the teens who volunteer.

Opening/Closing Ceremonies Coordinator

Actions

The Opening/Closing Ceremonies Coordinator is responsible for planning the opening and closing of camp. In addition, the coordinator is responsible for overseeing the following:

  • Emcee - The Face of Liberty Camp through the week. The emcee runs the opening and closing ceremonies, the Pledge and the Prayer, introduces the elected officials and manages the time during the opening ceremonies to keep things on schedule. The events of the day are foreshadowed before the campers begin their rotations, and they are reviewed with the common phrase, “What did you learn today?” as campers are encouraged to take the microphone to share.

  • Flag (3 minutes) - begins with the presentation of the flag and a brief orientation of meanings and/or protocols of flag etiquette, usually assigned to a teen patriot.

  • Officials Scheduler - Local, state, and federal elected officials are invited to speak and share (total 12 minutes) how they work for us all. The goal is that every branch and level of government is represented during the week, and we have one each day to present.

Registration Table Administrative Assistants

Actions

Administrative Assistants for the registration table greet the campers every morning and assist in signing them in. They help with questions from parents and directing campers to their groups.

Costumes Coordinator

Actions

Costumes Coordinators are responsible for organizing, collecting, and/or making costumes. Costumes Coordinators make sure that the costumes fit properly and that the costumes are there on the days they are needed. This is usually handled before camp begins and during the first day or two of camp.

First Aid Coordinator

Actions

First Aid Director is responsible for making sure all group leaders have the appropriate first response items in their group leader bags (gloves, Band-Aids, hand sanitizer, etc.) and they are available during camp should they be needed.

Snack Planners

Actions

Snack Planners help to shop for the snacks that are scheduled and prepare for the paper products that are needed throughout the week.

Craft Assistants

Actions

Craft Assistants help to gather the supplies for each craft during the week in the numbers needed. They may help with assembly of some crafts before camp begins and may help during camp.

Picnic Coordinator

Actions

Founders Friday Picnic Coordinator and assistants are responsible for setting up the serving tables, counting the supplies: paper plates, etc. (One to two hours) and setting the food out in an organized way and putting it away (Five hours on Friday). Picnic Coordinator is responsible for determining the amount of main dish food (supplied by LCFK and ordering (if needed).

Fundraising Coordinator

Actions

The Fundraising Coordinator is responsible for grant procurement and solicitation for contributions by individuals and groups to ensure that monies are available for operation, materials, and scholarships.

Photography / Videography Coordinator

Actions

The Photography/Videography Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Obtaining campers’ pictures, group pictures, and action pictures or videos of the various stations during camp.

  • Preparing and printing photos for almanacs.

  • Printing group photos for distribution.

  • Editing video if required and submitting it to the Public Relations Coordinator for distribution.

Facilities Coordinator

Actions

The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for scheduling and working with the Set up/Take Down Crew to set up tables and chairs, and canopies.  The crew typically arrives 45 minutes to an hour before the camp starts, and they return at the close of the camp and spend 30 minutes tearing down.

Materials Coordinator

Actions

The Materials Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the tubs, gathering, or making station supplies and props. The Materials Coordinator is responsible for hanging the posters and signs.

Name Tags/T-Shirts Administrative Assistants

Actions

Administrative Assistants for Name tags and T-shirts help with ordering T-shirts and printing name tags for campers and staff. They organize camper T-shirts and name tags in bags by family approximately three weeks before opening day.

Camp Bags Assistant

Actions

Camp Bags Assistants plan the special “give away” items that each camper receives on the last day of camp. The coordinator can seek donations from recruiting centers, local politicians, businesses, or they can order items ahead of time. They prepare the bags with campers’ names and make sure they are ready to go on Friday. Items from the different stations may also be included in the camp bags.

Prop Design and Care Assistant

Prop Design and Care Assistant is responsible for creating new props, replacing worn props, and organizing them for each station

Boat Maintenance

Actions

Boat maintenance includes transporting the boat and trailer from the storage garage to staging station and returning it to the garage at the end of camp.  It includes setting up boats and masts at the staging station in preparation for Liberty Camp (about 4-6 hours).  Responsibilities also include activities to prepare the boat for storage (including removing the trailer wheels and putting the trailer/boat on leveling blocks; making sure the docks and sails are safely stored on racks on the wall; covering the boat & trailer with the tarp.
